Elderly woman bilked out money by man claiming to be with Canadian police

The following blotter items were selected from Shoreline Police reports from May 10-16.

May 10

LARCENY, LESS THAN $250: A lawn mower was stolen from a locked shed in the 15500 block of 14th Ave. N.E. The victim suspected a former resident who has a drug problem.

LARCENY, MORE THAN $250: Someone smashed a window of a car parked in the Fred Meyer parking lot, 18325 Aurora Ave. N., and stole items.

 March 11

 LARCENY, MORE THAN $250: Someone smashed the passenger windows of cars parked near Fircrest School in the 15200 block of 15th Ave. N.E. and stole valuables from the front seats.

 FRAUD: Someone claiming to be with a Canadian police agency that arrested her grandson scammed an elderly woman in the 1500 block of N.E. 166th St. out of $11,300. The grandson was spoken to and no arrest appears to have taken place.

 BURGLARY: A fenced-in Brightwater construction site in the 20000 block of Ballinger Way was broken into using bolt cutters and items were stolen.

 BURGLARY: Someone kicked open a rear door of a home in the 500 block of N. 188th St. and stole a laptop and monitor.

 DRUGS AND FIREARMS: An individual at the Tyee Apartments in the 17200 block of Aurora Ave. N. was arrested and booked into the King County Jail on a drug violation and three firearms violation counts and one count of possession of stolen firearm.

 ATTEMPTED BURGLARY: Someone set off the alarm at Mars Hill Church, 2800 N.E. 200th St. and a broken window was discovered. Nothing appeared to be missing.

 March 12

 LARCENY, LESS THAN $250: Someone climbed the fence of the Shoreline School District Maintenance Yard, 18560 First Ave. N.E., and used a hose and bucket to steal gas from parked vehicles.

 BURGLARY: Someone entered an unlocked townhouse in the 1200 block of N. 167th St. and stole guns and gold.

 AGGRAVATED ASSAULT: A husband wrenched his wife’s arm causing it to fracture in a business in the 17500 block of 15th Ave. N.E.

 LARCENY, MORE THAN $250: Someone stole an unattended backpack full of soccer items in the parking lot of Einstein Middle School, 19343 Third Ave. N.W.

 THREATS: An individual on a Metro bus was booked into jail for threatening to shoot bus passengers and attempting to open an emergency door at N. 152nd St. and Aurora Ave.

 May 13

 FORGED CHECKS: A woman in the 20100 block of 14th Ave. N.E. was the victim of an Internet scam. She sent a wire transfer to a scam artist after receiving a pre-paid check for childcare services that bounced.

 LARCENY, MORE THAN $250: Someone broke the driver’s window of a vehicle parked at Ronald Bog Park, 2300 N. 175th St. and stole items from inside.

 LARCENY, MORE THAN $250: Someone used a slim jim to enter the passenger door on a victim’s truck parked in the 1300 block of N. 167th St. and took items.

 May 14

 TRESPASS: Police contacted a suspicious man and woman at the Rodeway Inn, 14817 Aurora Ave. The woman admitted smoking crack in room 215. Both were trespassed. Police submitted a pipe and pills for disposal.

 MARIJUANA POSSESSION: A person caught jaywalking at N. 155th St. and Meridian Ave. was found with marijuana and paraphernalia.

 CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE: A person was arrested for driving while their license was suspended in the 1500 block of N.E. 170th St. and was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and Alprazolam. The person was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of the Violation of the Uniform Controlled Substances Act.

 FRAUD: Counterfeit $50 and $100 bills were discovered at Drift On Inn, 16700 block of Aurora Ave. N.

 LARCENY, MORE THAN $250: Someone broke the right passenger window of a vehicle parked at Hamlin Park in the 16000 block of 15th Ave. N.E. and took two wallets.

 May 15

 DUI: Police arrested a man for DUI at Goldie’s Casino after nearly colliding with an officer’s car. The man was initially cooperative but later became violent, making repeated racist remarks and threatening officers and their families.

 BURGLARY: An ex-boyfriend used a copied house key to gain entry to the victim’s house in the 15000 block of 25th Ave. N.E. and assaulted her and prevented her from calling 911.

 LARCENY: An individual, known to be a heroin addict and frequent shoplifter, took power tools from Home Depot, 1335 N. 205th St., and exited out the fire door without paying.

 May 16

 DRUG OVERDOSE: An individual in the 16000 block of 12th Ave. N.E. overdosed on heroin.

 LARCENY, LESS THAN $250: Someone entered an unlocked vehicle parked in the 3000 block of N. 188th St. and stole items including a employee access card for the Hanford Reactor site.

 LARCENY, LESS THAN $250: A student at Shoreline Community College was studying at a table at the Public Union Building with his iPhone on the table when a white man in his 20s grabbed it and ran off.
