A Shoreline man who was stabbed in the chest Thursday by the mother of his children, died Sunday, according to Harborview officials, KOMO-TV is reporting.

The victim, Aaron Smith, was stabbed by his ex-girlfriend, Doreen Starrish, 28, at his home on NE 190th Street. Starrish then took the couple's 7- and 3-year-old daughters, which triggered an Amber Alert.

The Amber Alert was cancelled several hours later after the children were dropped off with Smith's mother, the girls' grandmother. The girls remain in protective custody, KOMO reported.

Starrish is still at large and likely faces increased charges when she is caught, because of Smith's death. Prosecutor's said Friday that they plan to ask for $1 million bail when Starrish is apprehended.

"We would encourage our suspect to turn herself in," King County Sheriff's spokeswoman Sgt. Katie Larsen said. "It's only a matter of time before we find her, and I'm sure she probably has a great deal she wants to tell us."

Doreen Starrish has an extensive police record, including drug offenses and assault, according to KOMO.

Anyone who has information on her whereabouts is asked to contact the King County Sheriff's Office or call 911.
