UPDATE: Cafe Racer Shooter Is Dead; Five Victims Now Confirmed Dead, One Survivor Remains

Gunman found in West Seattle by police and shot himself in head as they closed in

Update: 9:10 p.m.

Ian L. Stawicki of Ellensburg, the man Seattle police believe is responsible for two deadly shootings Wednesday died at Harborview Medical Center Wednesday night, according to a Harborview spokesman. A fourth shooting victim from Cafe Racer and the fifth person shot and killed by Stawicki today, has also died, The Seattle Times is reporting.

Police sources have identified the shooter as Ian L. Stawicki, 40, of Ellensburg, KOMO-TV is reporting. He is in critical condition at Harborview after he shot himself in the head. 

Two victims shot by Stawicki at Cafe Racer are in critical condition at Harborview as well.

A woman from Bellevue was one of the four victims shot and killed during a rampage Wednesday that Seattle Police attributed to one man, who reportedly killed himself in West Seattle, according to KIRO TV.

KIRO TV reported that the woman's family contacted the television station to say that she was an innocent victim in the day's shootings, which started at 11 a.m. Wednesday at at Cafe Racer, at 5828 Roosevelt Way NE in Seattle's Ravenna neighborhood.

 

Update: The Cafe Racer shooting suspect shot himself in W. Seattle, near SW Raymond St. and 37th Ave. SW., according to Seattle Police via Casey McNerthney of the PI.

The suspect was taken away by ambulance, and his condition is unknown, the Seattle Times is reporting.

A third victim has died as a result of the shooting, two others are still hospitalized.

The suspect is a white male, approximately 30 years old, wearing a dark short cap, with well-groomed dark hair, a neat full beard, wearing a light blue jacket.

A woman was killed in a second shooting Wednesday in carjacking near Eighth Street and Seneca Street, near Town Hall Seattle. 

Officials said they do not know whether the two incidents are related, the Times reported.

Seattle police are searching for a gunman who shot five people, killing two of them, in a north Seattle cafe Wednesday morning.

Around 11 am, several people called 911 and reported hearing gunfire coming from Cafe Racer at NE 58th Street and Roosevelt Way NE.

Officers arrived on scene and found five people down inside the business.

Medics arrived immediately, but were unable to save two men, who died at the scene. Two additional men and one woman were rushed to Harborview in critical condition.

The suspect in the shooting is a white male, 6’1, very thin, with curly light brown hair, wearing a white and brown plaid shirt and dark pants. Police believe he is armed and dangerous.

There is currently a heavy police presence in the University District, with K9, SWAT, Homicide detectives, crime scene investigators, and patrol officers all in the area working on the case and searching for the suspect.

As a precaution, area residents should keep their doors and windows locked, and to call police if you find any indications someone has tried to break in to your home.
