Seattle Man Injured in Accident in Shoreline Oct. 24 Dies

James Bloomfield died from injuries sustained when his car was hit by a dump truck

James Bloomfield, 67, the Seattle man seriously injured Oct. 24 when a dump truck and trailer ran a red light on 145th St. and collided with his Honda Civic, died Tuesday morning, a Harborview Medical Center official confirmed.

Bloomfield was married to his wife Lesa, and had worked at the Northgate JC Penney for years.

The preliminary report by the State Patrol was that a Peterbilt dump truck driven by Shawn Taipale, 51, of Burlington ran a red light on 145th St. at 30th Ave. N. about 9:57 a.m.

Bloomfield was proceeding through the intersection when the dump truck struck his Civic, and it was pushed into a Toyota Camry driven by Elva Chilson, 67, of Mill Creek.

Chilson was not hurt.

Bloomfield was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with life-threatening injuries, which he finally succumbed to Tuesday.
