Police Seek Info on Victims of Sex Offender Suspected in Shoreline Assault

The King County Sheriff’s Office Special Assault Unit is trying to find out if there are additional victims of a man in custody with a previous rape conviction.

Detectives for the King County Sheriff’s Office are trying to learn if there are any additional victims of a  registered sex offender who is in custody and suspected of sexual assaults in Shoreline and Seattle.

Demarcus B. Linwood is a Level 3 Registered Sex Offender, the office said in a press release, and has been in custody since February. He is charged in King County Superior Court with third-degree rape and is being investigated for a separate assault.

Police say he used public transit, and appears to have targeted homeless women or those who looked otherwise vulnerable near bus stops.

He earned the Level 3 sex offender status for a previous conviction, pleading guilty in 2009 to third-degree rape, according to King County Superior Court records.

Sheriff's office spokeswoman Sgt. Cindi West said detectives with the office's special assault unit are concerned there might be more victims “because of his history and targeting vulnerable women,” she said. “They don’t want other victims out there not coming forward.”

Anyone with potential information about such assault is asked to call the King County Sheriff’s Office Special Assault Unit at (206) 263-2110 or its Communications Center (206) 296-3311.
