VIDEO: Police Kill Man in Shoreline

The man was reportedly suicidal.

Shoreline police shot and killed a man Wednesday after they say he came out of his house with a chef’s knife and a shotgun.

Friends later identified him as David Albrecht, 22. (Click here for more details about Albrecht and the shooting.)

A woman called police just after 1 p.m. to say her boyfriend was suicidal and had a knife.

When officers arrived at the home in the 700 block of 200th Ave. N., the woman came out of the house and had been cut while trying to wrestle the knife away from the man, said King County Sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. John Urquhart. (Shoreline contracts with King County for police services.)

The man’s father was still in the house, and officers thought it might be a possible hostage situation, Urquhart said.

Then the suspect came out of the house with the knife and gun in what officers perceived was a “menacing manner,” Urquhart said.

Two officers fired their guns, and Albrecht was hit. Officers tried to treat his wounds, but he died at the scene. It’s not known how many shots were fired.
