UPDATE: Meridian Park Elementary Ends Lockdown

The school posted a message that it was in lockdown because of police activity in the area just before 4 p.m. The lockdown ended at 4:26 p.m.

Update, 4:40 p.m.: The lockdown has ended as of 4:26 p.m., according to an updated message on the website at Meridian Park Elementary.



Meridian Park Elementary School posted this emergency message on its website, as of 3:59 p.m. Tuesday:

"Meridian Park Elementary and the Shoreline Children's Center are currently in lockdown due to police activity in the area."

Just before 4:30 p.m., KIRO 7 TV Tweeted: "A bank robbery at 102 & Midvale around 3:30 p.m. caused a lockdown at Meridian Park Elementary. Suspects' car was left abandoned near school."

I am a student at meridian park when me and my friend got to the front door then the police folds go inside so we did and it was pretty scary this Dylan DeAngelo from Meridian Park Elementry 4th grade

Dylan, thanks for writing us on Patch. I'm sure it was pretty scary. You did the right thing by listening to what the police officers told you. I'm glad you are all safe.

Okay, the bank is robbed which is terrible, BUT!!!, they close the school ! ! ? ? This society is so freaked out about everything I'm surprised they didn't close the entire city. When did we all start acting like such paranoid idiots??
