Llandover Woods Greener than Usual, Marijuana Grow Found, Seattle Police Say

Police found 40-45 small marijuana plants growing inside planters at the park, which borders Shoreline.

King County Sheriff’s deputies tipped Seattle Police off to an unauthorized crop growing in planters at the Llandover Woods Greenspace, which borders Shoreline, SPD said.

The official description of the nine-acre park says "Visitors to the park are bound to see many hikers, joggers, people walking dogs, or smoking a pipe."

SPD said in its blotter entry that that language shouldn't confuse people--it's still not legal to grow marijuana in Seattle, even in the park. The department added however, that aside from seizure and destruction of the plants, there will not likely be further investigation, as marijuana crimes are a "low, low, priority" for the city.
