LFP Police Blotter: Parents Don't Approve of Shorecrest Boyfriend

The following blotter items range from May 21, 2012 – May 27, 2012. Information on arrests is supplied by the Lake Forest Park Police Department. The reports do not indicate a conviction.

MAY 21

SEATTLE TIMES EMPLOYEE STOPPED BY LFP POLICE:  A Seattle Times employee stated that he was tired when he was stopped by police for a lane travel violation.  This happened in the 15000 block of Bothell Way NE at roughly 2:45 am.

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES:  A male transient was holding a beer and walking around as if he was casing the neighborhood nearby the intersection of NE 148th Street and 38th Ave NE.  The police warned the man about drinking in public and directed him to the Burke Gilman Trail if he wanted to look at the lake.  Police also warned him about his outstanding non-extraditable warrants.

DRUGS ON PROPERTY:  A person in the 17400 block of Brookside Blvd NE reported they found a backpack with drug paraphenalia inside bushes.  The police confirmed the bag was full of needles and possible drugs.  The backpack was collected for safe disposal.

DISTURBANCE:  A landlord called police close to 11:30pm. He said someone in the complex was having a party and making a good sum of noise.  This is an on-going problem.  The police asked the tenant to stop the noise, if not, the police officer would need to come by to issue a citation.  The noise maker complied with the police officer.

MAY 23

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES:  A homeowner in the 2000 block of 32nd Ave NE called the police.  A suspect was in the area and had jumped over a fence from one house north of the homeowner.  One person was taken into custody.  If you have a broken fence due to this situation, please call Mountlake Terrace PD.

FRAUD:  A woman in the 3700 block of NE 180th Street received a phone call from her credit card company.  They said some unknown suspect made charges to her card for over $900.

BURGLARY:  A man in the 18700 block of 23rd Ave NE reported that someone broke into his home.  It is unknown what was taken.

MAY 24

THEFT AT WOODLAND NORTH APARTMENTS:  A woman in the 3600 block of NE 155th Street reported that a suspect broke into the rent drop box for the apartment complex.  Rent money was stolen.

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES:  A man in 16000 block of 35th Ave NE positively identified a suspect who has been in the neighborhood stealing U.S. Mail.  The suspect is described as a white male, 20-30 years old, 5 foot 9 inches tall, wearing a gray hoodie, brown pants and carried a black backpack.  The suspect was looking into mailboxes two days earlier and stopped whenever a vehicle approached.

PARENTS WHO DO NOT APPROVE OF A BOYFRIEND RESULTS IN REPORTED PARKING SITUATION:  A neighbor in the 19000 block of Forest Park Dr NE called to say that a vehicle was parked at a home across from hers.  The neighbor said that it was unusual because no one parks cars in the driveway during that time of day.  Police found out a Shorecrest student parked his car in the driveway to visit his girlfriend who lives nearby.  Her parents do not approve of the Shorecrest boyfriend so he chose to park away from his girlfriend’s home.

MAY 25

GRAFFITTI: Someone(s) tagged a street sign and a metal utility box at the following approximate addresses:

-      The 15600 block of 37th Ave NE

-      The 15700 block of 37th Ave NE

WARNING FOR BLATANT VIOLATION:  A police officer stood nearby 16500 Burke Gilman Trail to remind bicyclists to slow down and stop for the stop sign.  There are on-going citizen complaints.  While most cyclists were compliant, one bike rider was warned for blatant disrespect of the stop sign.

CITIZEN: A police stopped in the 3000 block of NE 205th Street to speak to a hit and run victim.  The officer gave some general updates about the case and discussed traffic and crime concerns for the area.  The officer recommended the woman to work with the city of LFP to see about better securing the street corner from future damage.

MAY 26

TRAFFIC STOP:  A police officer stopped a vehicle in the 19900 block of 40th Pl NE.  The driver was cited for failure to stop for a stop sign and an expired registration.  Also, the driver had no proof of insurance. 

TRAFFIC STOP:  A woman who was driving a car nearby the intersection of Ballinger Way NE and Bothell Way was stopped by police for an expired license tab registration.  The tab expired April 2012.  Upon further investigation, the police found the woman operating the vehicle with a canceled or revoked certificate.  A notice of infraction was issued to the woman.

MAY 27

911 CALL:  Police were alerted to a home in the 4500 block of NE 201st Place.  Upon arrival, a man came out of the house to tell police that it was an accidental phone call to 911.  The police noted the loud music in the background.  Also noted was a person passed out underneath a tree shrub.  Another individual told people inside the house about the police presence.  The police observed a person with long dark hair with gauze in both nostrils scrambling to get to another part of the house.  The tree shrub person refused medical aid.  The homeowner denied police entry to the house and stated there was no one injured inside.  Two female occupants came outside and told police no one was injured. 

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE:  A neighbor in unit “X” in the 19000 block of 33rd Ave NE reported that people were yelling and screaming very loudly nearby.  The police made contact with unit “Z” and found a female who had visual signs of being hit in the face and the back of head.  Both the female and the man stated that nothing happened.  The man was taken into custody.

COMPLAINTS FROM SEQUOIA PLACE APARTMENTS:  A man in the 3800 block of NE 155th Pl said a tenant was having a party.  According to the police, the tenant appeared to be under the influence of marijuana.  The tenant said he had a few friends over and things got loud.  The tenant apologized for the noise.  The reporting person said they would make an extra key to give police access to the property.
