LFP Police Blotter: Neighbor's Lynx Attacks Domestic Cats

The following blotter items range from July 9, 2012 – July 15, 2012. Information on arrests is supplied by the Lake Forest Park Police Department. The reports do not indicate a conviction.

JULY 9

ANIMAL:  A woman in the 2900 block of NE 178th Street contacted police after her neighbor’s lynx or exotic cat attacked her domestic cats outdoors.  When the lynx started to attack her two domestic cats, she sprayed the lynx with water. The lynx ran off.  The woman believes there has been at least 20 incidents that happened since the neighbors moved in with their lynx since March 2011.  The police gave the woman a copy of an ordinance about exotic animals; the woman said she did not want to pursue the matter at the immediate time to keep some form of harmony between herself and the neighbors.  There was a question if the neighbor’s animal was in violation of the city ordinance.

BURGLARY:  A man in the 2500 block of NE 178th Street reported a burglary at his home at roughly 6:40pm.

JULY 13

DISTURBANCE:  Two neighbors in the 3800 block of NE 178th Street called police after hearing a female screaming profanity.  One of the neighbors thought they heard the shattering of glass.  Upon arrival, the police found a woman screaming and cursing at her TV.  The female had been drinking.  The police advised the drunken female to close her windows so that the noise level could be reduced.

ANIMAL:  A black poodle was running northbound in the 17800 block of Ballinger Way NE.  An officer tried to grab the pooch but the dog got away.  Animal control was called, arrived and took hold of the dog.

JULY 14

ANIMAL:  Two dogs that reside with their human owners in the 16500 block of 41st Ave NE got loose without their owner’s knowledge.  The dogs were running nearby 165th Street and Burke Gilman Trail.  Both dogs were returned to their owner.

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES:  A person described as a Hispanic male was in the 14500 block of NE Bothell Way NE when he took off running.  He was wearing a white hoodie with a white hat and blue jeans.  The person ran through some backyards and ultimately out of the back door of Taco Bell.  Neighbors were advised to watch the area and call 911 immediately with any sighting of this person.

WELFARE CHECK:  More than one neighbor in the 15800 block of 33rd Ave NE told police that a white man in his earlier 30’s was ranting about the war and causing a disturbance.  A caller who claimed to be his aunt shared that the man was drunk and high on beer and marijuana.  The behavior has been escalating in the last few weeks.  The man thinks everyone is against him.  It is unclear what happened next because additional information was whited out by the LFP police department.

THEFT:  A white female in her mid-30’s stole a bag full of groceries two nights in a row from 17171 Bothell Way NE.

There is some video of this theft.
