LFP Police Blotter: Mom Asks Police to Take Drunk Son Away

November 26

MOM REQUESTED SON REMOVED FROM HER HOME:  A woman in the 17400 block of Ballinger Way NE reported fourteen minutes after midnight that her son was inside her home intoxicated.  She said that her son was screaming and three other people were inside the home while she waited in her car outside.  The police did not find the son inside the home and the mom drove away in the car. Fifty-six minutes after midnight, the woman returned to her home.  The son knocked on her front door.  Police arrived shortly and son was said to be by the side of the house by garbage cans.  Police found the son sprawled on the ground in the backyard behind bushes.  Police detained the son and confirmed a warrant for his arrest.  After arresting the son, LFP police contacted Shoreline police and brought the son to Shoreline PD.

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES:  A man in the 20400 block of 33rd Ave NE found a vehicle nearby his mailbox when he returned to his house.  The car went to a neighbor’s house and looked inside their mailbox.  The man did not describe the driver of the car, however, he believed the driver might have taken letters from his mailbox.  Later, police verified that the car belonged to a neighbor.  Police advised the man who appreciated the information.

SHOTS HEARD?:  A person in the 16700 block of 32nd Ave NE reported that they heard one gun shot sound out during the evening.  Police found a neighbor who was using a sledgehammer and wedge to split wood.  This is mostly likely what the reporting person heard.

THEFT:  A man in the 3500 block of NE 153rd Street reported that someone stole CD’s from his Subaru car overnight.  Further, he stated that a neighbor had gifts taken from their car.  There was no damage to the vehicles.  This happened in an underground, “secured” parking area with no cameras.

UNWANTED VISITORS:  A woman who lives on the 5000 block of NE 178th Street reported that a woman was banging at her front door.  The woman demanded bail money for a family friend. Police found the woman at the side of the home.  The woman complained of an injured arm and needed money to get her husband out of jail.  An aid unit arrived to tend to the woman’s arm.  A man was present by woman’s car and confirmed the woman was looking for money to get a motel room.  The woman who called the police said she did give the woman and man money in the past but does not have money now and did not wish to give any money out to them in the future.  Police asked man and woman to leave the area and not return.  The man and woman backed up their car, only to veer into someone else’s garage door and bumping the garage door of its roller.  Police tried to contact garage door owner but found the house vacant.

ELECTRIC WHEELCHAIRS IN THE STREET:  In an incident near the corner of 37th Ave NE and Ballinger Way NE., people were seen driving their electric wheelchairs on Ballinger Way NE.  Reporting citizens were afraid the people would get hit by a car or be hurt by other hazards as the wheelchairs were heading up the hill on 37th Ave NE. 

November 27

NOISE DISTURBANCE:  A man in the 2600 block of NE 195th Street reported that his neighbor was playing very loud music.  The last time he contacted police he was threatened by his neighbor in September.  Police asked neighbor to turn down the noise.  The neighbor agreed.  Before leaving, the police spoke to the neighbor about noise violations.

“NO PARKING ANYTIME” MEANS “TOW AWAY”:  A car was parked on the south side of the street nearby the 3500 block of NE 155th Street next to a clearly posted sign stating “No Parking Anytime.”  The tow truck driver needed a police signature before towing the car away.  An officer signed documents and then car was towed.

CIVIL STANDBY:  A father and son stood outside the LFP police department close to 5:00 am.  An officer went to meet father/son in person before they called the police by phone.  The son is in the process of a divorce with his wife.  Son and wife live in the 19000 block of Ballinger Way NE.  The son asked for a civil standby as he has been attempting to contact his wife who chose not to return his calls or emails.  The police, father and son went to the residence.  The wife allowed the man to come inside and retrieve a few of his belongings.  Arrangements were made for a second civil standby for 9:00am the same morning, the third such request in a month.

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES:  A person contacted police in regards to a vehicle nearby 37th Ave NE and Ballinger Way NE.  The car was parking within the sidewalk and entrance to LFP elementary school.  The car was removed from the scene by a tow truck.

GRAFFITTI:  Police discovered graffiti on the side of the building in the 14700 block of Bothell Way NE.  Photographs were taken as evidence and owner was contacted during normal business hours.  The unwanted “art” happened possibly within three days of discovery.

DIFFICULT MOVE OUT:  A woman called from the 3600 block of NE 155th Street.  She reported that she was in the process of moving out of an apartment.  Her male roommate would not allow her into the apartment to retrieve her belongings.  However, he would allow her relatives to come in.  The woman wanted police to be present “just in case” the matter became uncivil.  A key was available to the woman and she made a lawful entry to the residence.  The man was not home at the time.

MAIL THEFT:  A woman in the 3500 block of NE 189th Place reported that she came home from the holiday to find mail on her doorstep.  One of the letters was from a home renter in Blaine.  This letter was opened and no rent check was inside.  She called her renter and left a message.  She will follow up in the morning.  Police advised her to get a security mailbox.

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES:  Three people called police regarding a female person who was on foot and in possible distress trying to get into their cars at an intersection of 40th Ave NE and NE 182nd Street.  Police went to investigate the area three times and found no such person.  Police did not know why reporting persons did not stay to help the person or wait until police arrived before leaving area.

BELLIGERENT SON:  A father called police from the 19600 block of 53rd Ave NE.  He said that he and his son had been in an argument 2-3 hours ago but it was not a violent physical dispute. 

WARRANT:  A man came to the police station with his mother to turn himself into police.  Warrant possibly related to “minor in possession” or consumption of alcohol.
