Selected police reports from the week

The following are selected police reports from the LFP police department from May 16-22.

May 16

DRIVING VIOLATION: Aa driver drove down the wrong side of the road on the 1400 block of Bothell Way, NE.  He was issued a ticket.

POSSIBLE BURGLARY: Mail was take from a box and was found later on the ground.  The owner of the mail still is not sure if anything was stolen.  The officer advised her to contact her bank and monitor activity on her accounts.  Suspicious activity was reported. 

HEALTH CRISIS:  A couple in a light blue Volvo blocked the roadway on Ballenger Way NE, near the 40th  St. N.E. block.  The woman in the vehicle was diabetic and was confused.  Aid arrived and provided an insulin pump

May 17

CAR VANDALIZED:  A vehicle was broken into.  The front seats were slashed and the owner’s keys and access cared to St. Joseph’s on Capitol Hill were taken.  Nothing else was missing.  The missing keys and access card were reported to the school. 

VANDALISM:  At the Woodland Apartments a building maintenance man found a bullet hole in the balcony. He pulled the bullet from the outside wood railing. He didn’t want to make a report and just wanted the police to be informed in case it was related to another case.  There was no damage since work was being done on the outside unit.  

DOMESTIC ABUSE:  A women called and said that her brother-in-law threatened to knock their barn down and ‘blow them away.’ The woman wanted information on how to obtain a restraining order.  She also wanted eviction process information and how to declare someone mentally incompetent.  She was advised to contact a lawyer who could advice her better. 

May 18

ALTERCATION:  At Planet Fitness 2 women were in a verbal argument. The women left on their own with no police involvement.  

DOMESTIC ABUSE:  A woman from out of state said that her brother was suppose to be taking care of their elderly mother at her home in LFP, but her house was in shambles.  Police advised her to call APS health care and a family law attorney to find out rights and responsibilities.  The elderly woman is not mentally competent and will not admit to police that she is being abused by her son. 

May 19

ACCIDENT:  A young man was injured long boarding.  He crashed and showed officer significant cuts and crapes but he refused aid.  Instead he just asked police for a ride home.

BICYCLIST VIOLATION:  Officer stopped bicyclist for riding without a helmet, running a stop sign, and failing to yield for pedestrian.  He was issued a ticked for helmet violation and warned for traffic violations. 

May 20

VEHICHLE VIOLATION:  A vehicle was parked too close to a fire hydrant and was also parked on the wrong side of the road. 

MENTAL ISSUES:  A man with mental issues was asking strange questions to people at the bus terminal and also begging for money.  Once the officer was on the scene the man was taken off the bus. 

ALTERCATION:  On a metro bus a victim says a female hit him and he believed her to be high on drugs.  There were no weapons involved. 

May 21

JAY WALKING:  At 2pm a man was jaywalking across Bothell Way NE and given a verbal warning

DRUK DRIVING:  A vehicle was spotted pulled over on the side of the street.  The driver admitted he had too much to drink and wanted to stop for a while.  He agreed that driving intoxicated was not a smart thing to do.  He was given a ticket on the scene. 

DOG FIGHT: A dog was off leash and attacked a neighbor’s dog.  The dogs were separated and both were okay. 

May 22

DISTURBING PEACE: A party of men was kicked out of Elks and 2 hours later found in the parking lot drinking.  There was a birthday party at that location and when the party was shut down the men were trying to find rides home.  A cab arrived and picked up the men.

CYCLIST VIOLATION:  A biker was given a verbal warning for not having a light or a helmet. 

PANHANDLING:  Around 5  p.m. an employee of Albertsons reported that 2 panhandlers were being very aggressive.  The employee said a couple of customers were complaining.
