Guilty Plea in Lake Forest Park Water District Embezzlement

Jackee Bormann-Zweekhorst entered a guilty plea to wire fraud in federal court in connection to fabricated time cards, and use of the Lake Forest Park Water District's credit card for personal purchases, according to federal prosecutors.

The former clerk of the Lake Forest Park Water District pleaded guilty in connection with a variety of schemes to embezzle $350,000 from her former employer for over 7 years, announced U.S. Attorney Jenny A. Durkan.

Jackee Bormann-Zweekhorst, 41, entered her guilty plea to wire fraud Wednesday Sept. 11 in U.S. District Court.

According to Durkan's office, the exact amount of the embezzlement and the restitution owed will be determined at Borman-Zweekhorst's sentencing hearing scheduled for Dec. 13, 2013 in front of Chief U.S. District Judge Marsha J. Pechman.

According to the plea agreement and indictment, Bormann-Zweekhorst, who was responsible for submitting bills for reimbursement, falsified time cards so that her children were paid for work never performed for the water district.

The indictment also says she used the water district credit card to pay for personal items such as hot tub parts and service, boating and automotive equipment and rental car expenses. According to prosecutors, she also submitted fabricated receipts to support reimbursements.

The inconsistencies were first uncovered by by Lake Forest Police. The water district also fired Bormann-Zweekhorst after the discovery.

According to Durkan's office, wire fraud is punishable by up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
