UPDATE: Friends of Kelsey Lippincott Raising Money for Her Headstone

Friends are collecting money for Lippincott's family at 145th St. and I-5 overpass where she died in the early morning hours of April 28

Friends of Kelsey Lippincott report that they have raised enough money as of Sunday evening to pay for her headstone.

Close friends of Kelsey Lippincott, a 17-year-old former Shorewood student, , are raising money to help her family raise money for a memorial headstone.

Lippincott's family and friends created a memorial of flowers, photos and notes at the 145th St. and I-5 overpass and have been collecting money for her memorial at that location.

The total cost for the headstone is $1,800, according to her friends who said they have raised $733 over the last three days.  

Rain or shine, they have been at the overpass at 3 p.m. trying to raise the money.

Also, Shorewood prinicpal Bill Dunbar sent the following note out to Shorewood parents concerning Lippincott's death last week:

April 30, 2012

Dear Shorewood families:

You may have been informed by your son or daughter that former Shorewood student Kelsey Lippincott passed away last Saturday over the school break. As a school, we are making every effort to respond to the needs of all of our students, staff and community.  The Shorewood staff as a whole is doing everything possible to respond to this tragic event.

School counselors have made themselves available to provide ongoing support for our students. If you need assistance in helping your child as he or she responds to these events, I encourage you to contact your student’s counselor at the school by telephone or email:
