Why I'm Supporting Ginny Scantlebury for Ronald Wastewater Commissioner

I've heard it so many times this election cycle.  "If the City controls the sewer district we still have local control because City Councilman are voted in by us, the people".

Well, that may be true, but consider this.  If a sewer commissioner doesn't operate 'our' sewer system in a way that is best for the ratepayers, we can vote him/her out.

However, what do you do when a city councilman isn't running the sewer system in a good manner, but you approve of the way he/she is doing in 3 or 4 other areas?  Do you vote for the 1 bad job they are doing in order to keep them doing a good job in other areas?  Or do you vote against them on 3 other areas because you don't like the job they are doing in one (the sewer system)?

How simple can it get.  If we like the way our sewer commissioner is operating and maintaining our sewer system, re-elect him/her.  If we're not happy with the way they are operating and maintaining our sewer system, vote them out.

That's local government at its most common denominator.  That's why I am supporting Ginny Scantlebury and Richard Matthews for sewer commissioners.
