HB 2263 insults both men and women

Has Olympia nothing better to do? HB 2263 addresses the election and gender of the chair and vice chair of state and county political parties.

Currently, the chair and vice chair must be of opposite sex. This bill would remove that requirement and instead require that at least one of the positions be female. In other words, either one male and one female, or two females would be allowed, but two males would not.

This bill is sponsored by Reps. MacEwen, Orwall, Ryu, S. Hunt.

The bill obviously discriminates against men, but it also demeans women by insinuating they need the help of a statutory 'red tee.'
