Shoreline City Council Waits until Last Minute

Many of you have probably voted already. Tonight (Nov. 4), the Shoreline City Council will be holding a Dinner Meeting at 5:45 PM to reveal its 2014 priorities for the State Legislature.

Their staff report for this Special Meeting includes the following concern:

Shoreline is in process of becoming a full service utility provider – as envisioned in the Growth Management Act – by entering into the water and sewer business. The City is interested in maintaining the ability of cities to enter into the water or sewer business by assuming an existing utility district if the Council deems it appropriate.

Staff is recommending the Council adopt the following priority for the state legislature:

Support legislation to maintain cities’ ability to assume water/sewer districts without a vote as designated by the Growth Management Act. (emphasis added).

This meeting at City Hall is open to the public. If you happen to believe something as important as the City's planned take over of the Ronald Wastewater District is something we citizens have a right to vote on, you might want to attend this meeting. For those of you who followed the incumbent City Councilmembers' advice to vote early, you might want to come get the information they held back until the last minute.

It is time to re-open Shoreline. Don't wait until the last minute.
