Memorial Sunday for Erin Walker, Shoreline College Advisor

Walker, who was a faculty academic advisor in the International Education Program at Shoreline Community College, and had received tenure at the college in March.

The life of Erin Walker, a Shoreline Community College faculty academic advisor, will be remembered at a memorial at 3 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 15, at Blaine Memorial United Methodist Church, 3001 24th Ave. S. Seattle.

Walker, 42, died in an car accident, July 25, 2013 near Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. A memorial service for her was held earlier this year in her hometown, according to Shoreline Community College.

She was a faculty academic advisor in the International Education Program at Shoreline Community College, and had received tenure at the college in March.

“We’re grateful to Erin’s family for this opportunity for her many friends here in the Seattle area to acknowledge and honor the influence she had on so many lives,” Interim President Daryl Campbell according to Shoreline Community College

According to her obituary posted at Shorts Funeral Home, Walker loved nature and music. She sang with the Seattle Symphony Chorale, and had been directing the Women’s Chorale at the Music Center of the Northwest in Seattle and was choir director of an ecumenical choir called Jubilate!, which performed at summer retreats of the Pacific Northwest Conference of the United Methodist Church and on international tours of China and Cuba.

Walker is survived by her mother, Diane Burke Walker of Moscow, Idaho, and her father, Richard I. Walker of Peck, Idaho. Her older brother, Eric Walker, died in 1985 at the age of 20, also in an automobile accident.
