Obituary: Francine Maret Bergquist, 94, Richmond Beach's Oldest Native Resident

Francine passed away peacefully on March 19, 2013. A graveside service will be held March 30 at 1 p.m., at Restlawn Memorial Park in Edmonds.

Frances (Francine) Bergquist passed away peacefully on March 19, 2013 after a brief hospital stay for heart failure. She was born in Richmond Beach, Wa. on Dec. 2, 1918 to Frank Maret and Bertha Taylor Maret. She lived all 94 years of her life there. She graduated from Richmond Beach High School in 1937 and married Kenneth Bergquist in 1938.

Francine never worked outside the home but was active in many civic groups including the Girl Scouts and Orthopedic Guild. She loved sewing, camping and fishing with Kenneth and caught her share. Kenneth always told her she was the “catch of his life”.

Francine was preceded in death by husband, Kenneth, in 2007 and son, John, in 2012. She is survived by daughters Orien “Mickey” (Pete) Peterson and Nancy (Fred) Lawless; son James (Linda C.); daughter-in-law Linda J.; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She will be missed by all.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. March 30th at Restlawn Memorial Park, 23800 – 104th Ave. W in Edmonds. A reception will follow at her home. Please share memories of Francine at www.becksfuneralhome.com.
