Celebration of Shoreline Professor's Life Set for Sept. 22

The life of Troy Wolff will be celebrated at 2 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013 at Shoreline Community College. People also may contribute online to the expenses of Kristin Ito, whom Wolff was trying to protect during a random knife attack.

A celebration of life has been set for Shoreline Community College English professor Troy Wolff.

Wolff died Saturday after he and his partner Kristin Ito were attacked with a knife by a stranger, Seattle Police reported. King County prosecutors have Donnell D. Jackson, 44, with Murder in the First Degree and Attempted Murder in the First Degree and Attempted Murder in the First Degree in connection with the attack.

People may also contribute to a fund to help Ito, who is unable to work while she recovers, according to a supporter who set up a fundraising site for her at YouCaring.com.

Shoreline Community College posted the following on its website:

A celebration of life for Troy Wolff will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013 at Shoreline Community College.

The event will be in the Pagoda Student Union Building (PUB) Main Dining Room, 16101 Greenwood Ave.  N. Shoreline, WA 98133. The service is intended for friends, family and supporters to share thoughts and memories of Wolff’s life. The family requests no cameras or other recording devices be used during the service.

Wolff, 46, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013. Wolff was walking with his partner, Kristin Ito, in the Pioneer Square area of Seattle following a Sept. 13 Sounders match at Century Link Field when they were attacked by man. While Ito survived, Wolff died early the following morning at Harborview Medical Center.

Wolff was a beloved and respected co-worker and English instructor at Shoreline for 17 years. He was chair of the English department at the time of his death.

“This is an unbelievably tragic loss,” said Interim President Daryl Campbell. “Troy was loved by students, loved by his fellow faculty members, loved by all who knew him.”
