Bob Jones Sr., Retired Shoreline Schools Teacher, Passes

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 23, in Everett, and the Sound Singers and Edmonds Senior Center plan a celebration of life for Jones on Tuesday, March 26.

The Edmonds Senior Center community and Sound Singers are mourning the loss of an important and active member, Bob Jones, who died in his sleep Wednesday.

Jones, who taught in Shoreline schools for 27 years, is survived by his wife of more than 45 years, and numerous family including his children and grandchildren.

Jones taught math and music, and never slowed down for a second in his retirement, writer Teri Baker said in a previous profile of Jones in Senior Focus Magazine.

"When you retire, you re-tire. You put on a new set of tires so you can go faster,” Baker quoted Jones.

His many activities included pianist for Men’s Bible Study Fellowship in Everett and for the seniors group at his church, Grand Musician for the Washington State Masons, Chief Proctor in Western Washington for the engineering licensing exam, and he had been the director of the Sound Singers. In 2012, he was elected board president for the Edmonds Senior Center.

A memorial service for Bob is planned for Saturday, March 23rd, 2pm at New Life Church in Everett.

The Sound Singers and the Edmonds Senior Center will have a celebration of Bob on Tuesday, March 26th at 2pm for anyone who would like to attend. It will be held in the main dining room at the Center.

Editor's note: A previous version of this story misstated the day of the memorial service. This has been corrected.
