Writers – call to arms!

As any NW geek knows, the pen/pencil set is mightier than the sword.

The Seattle Pen Club – aficionados of fountain pens, roller balls and even mechanical pencils? Yes, they exist.  And they meet monthly at Third Place Commons in Lake Forest Park.

This Saturday, they’ll be meeting at 11 a.m. to 1 p.m at Third Place, although a few plan to arrive an hour early to sip coffee and well, talk about pens.

So, all you fellow pen lovers, check out the website at seattlepenclub.com. There are some beautiful photographs of pens and writing paraphernalia. Or go to the Third Place books site at thirdplacebooks.com.

While you’re at it, you might want to know about the pens that can fetch $1.5 million.  Or more affordable pens at a mere six figures, still diamond encrusted. Those can be found on your very own computer at incrediblediary.com/most-expensive-pens-in-the-world.html. And probably not at Third Place Books.

But on Saturday, throw in a little bakery treat from Honey Bear and I’ll be more than happy treasuring a 1950’s relic that somehow escaped a 1960’s trip to the Goodwill.

I’d write more, but the hour is late. If you’re NOT into pens, you’re not going to read more here. If you ARE head-over-heels happy about this impending event, I need not say more. You’re probably already giddy, packing up your favorite fountain pens and your cherished roller balls.

Now if they just would have a similar club for my Number 2 pencils including my Blackfeet Indian hand-made pencils and cedar case. Or my antique typewriter collection.

Some things, happily, just get better with age.
