Local Community Youth Agency Hires New Executive Director

Jeffrey Bronstein of Bothell hired to lead Jeremiah Center, which serves youth in North King and South Snohomish counties

The Board of Directors of Jeremiah Center, an Edmonds-based community based non-profit agency serving youth in south Snohomish and north King County, has chosen Jeffrey A. Bronstein, a resident of Bothell, as its new executive director, according to a press release.

The Board chose Bronstein at its September 8 board meeting following an extensive search.

According to Paul Davis, Board Chair, the Jeremiah Center was looking for a leader to take the Jeremiah Center to the next level.

“Jeremiah Center has been around since 2005 and has served over 3,500 youth from Edmonds, Lynnwood, Mukilteo, Shoreline, and neighboring communities through its counseling services and activity programs.  We are ready to grow and were looking for a leader to further develop community based initiatives and partnerships in order to increase our level of reach.  Jeff was selected because the combination of his experience and people skills seemed perfect to meet the challenge at-hand," he said.

Prior to joining Jeremiah Center, Bronstein served as an executive director for the Rio Rancho Public Schools, the third largest school district in New Mexico.  He also served as a vice-president with New York Presbyterian Hospital and has many years of experience working with boards and non profit community based organizations and groups.  He holds a master of public administration from New York University and a degree in psychology from Michigan State University.

“I am excited to be part of this great organization," Bronstein said.  “It is so important to keep our youth engaged and involved in positive activities in a welcoming and safe environment.  We also need to recognize that there are many challenges out in the real world that are sometimes difficult for our youth to cope with.  Jeremiah Center provides the lowest cost counseling services in our region, which makes it affordable and accessible to all that need these.  It is my goal to enhance our services, grow capacity, and continue to reduce barriers to accessing our high quality programs.”

“We are very fortunate to have Jeff as our new executive director," said Wayne Steele, who chaired the center’s search committee.  “We are embarking on an exciting journey with Jeff as we strive to deliver and expand youth services.

Bronstein begins in his new role on October 3, 2011.

Jeremiah Center offers music and art-based programming, a mentoring program, and counseling services to youth in south Snohomish and north King county.  The center is a place of hospitality and service for teenagers through which youth can find community and support for their daily lives and in times of crisis, according to the non-profit.
