Do you know your home's value?

For most of us our home is one of our largest and most important assets we own. Unfortunately, unlike for our bank accounts or stock portfolios, we don't receive regular reports on the market value of our homes. So how can you quickly and easily get an idea of the value for your home? I find that if I can identify enough data points from different resources that I can come up with a general value range for a property. These sources include:

https://www.chase.com/mortgage/mortgage-resources/home-value-estimator
- Chase Mortgage's value estimator

http://realestatecenter.bankofamerica.com/tools/marketvalue.aspx
- Bank of America's value estimator

www.kingcounty.gov
- Property tax assessed values

www.zillow.com
- According to Zillow, their estimate is within 8.1% of accuracy

By themselves, none of these sources are very accurate but taken together, they should give you a reasonable idea of your property's worth.

If you want the most accurate view on your home's value, contact a Realtor. They live and breathe the market every day and in today's hectic market, will be your best source of information specific to your home.
