Premera Blue Cross Bloodmobile Open in MLT April 19-20

We have identified an issue with the collection bags our centers use for apheresis – a process that allows our donors to give an extra large donation of either platelets or red blood cells. We currently are unable to collect double red cell donations. We are working with the manufacturer and we anticipate a solution within the next several days -in the meantime we need help now from every donor!

Thursday & Friday, April 19 & 20
9 am to 3 pm
(closed 11:30-12:30)

Thanks to the 11 donors who made appointments already – there are 79 appointments left

This issue is especially impacting our O Negative supply, which is often used in traumas and urgent scenarios when a patient’sblood type may not yet be known as well as in cases when the blood inventory for a patient’s blood type is critically low. Unlike other blood types, O Negative blood cells are essentially unmarked; therefore, a recipient’s body will not recognize it as foreign and reject it. This shortage of O Negative means we need an ample supply of all blood types on hand.

Please give today and continue to help our community by committing to give at least three times a year.
