Celebrate the Feast of All Saints at Church of the Redeemer

Celebrate the feast of All Saints on Sunday, November 3,
2013, at 10:30 am with the people of Church of the Redeemer. This worship service
proclaims that, in Jesus, we are one with those who have died.

Church of the Redeemer is at 6211 NE 182nd Street, Kenmore,

Washington. There is a link to a map at redeemer-kenmore.org.

There is only one worship service on the morning of November

3, 2013.

The All Saints Celebration

Christians have remembered all saints and martyrs at various
times of the year by the 300s. These celebrations remembered the intercommunion
of the living and dead in the Body of Christ. They especially remembered those who crowned their profession of faith in heroic death.

Some scholars believe the celebration around November 1 started
in Ireland. This day is one of the Celtic quarter days. From Ireland, this date for All Saints spread to Rome by the early 800s.

The Episcopal Church recommends using All Saints for
baptisms. (The other days for baptisms are Easter, Pentecost, and the Baptism of Jesus.) As a result, many congregations use All Saints for everyone to renewal their baptismal covenant.

"O blest communion, fellowship divine!
We feebly struggle, they in glory shine;
All are one in Thee, for all are Thine.
Alleluia!"

—from the hymn "For All the Saints," William Walsham How.
