Advent Vespers of Expectation with the Byrd Ensemble

The Byrd Ensemble sings at Vespers of Expectation for Advent on Saturday, December 21, 2013, at 5:00 pm. This service is at Church of the Redeemer, 6211 NE 182nd Street, Kenmore Washington. Instrumentalists playing are Sharon Grabner, flute, and the parish music director, Sheila Bristow, organ.

Vespers of Expectation is a time to step aside from the pressures. Listen to readings and music about the coming of Jesus. There will be no sermon.

The Byrd Ensemble is a Seattle-based vocal group specializing in the performance of chamber vocal music. Since 2003, the Ensemble has performed medieval, Renaissance, baroque, and modern music across the United States. Markdavin Obenza leads the group’s creative efforts.

In the summer of 2013, the Byrd Ensemble recorded a CD of the music of Arvo Pärt at Church of the Redeemer. This recording has these works:

  • I Am the True Vine
  • The Woman with the Alabaster Box
  • Tribute to Caesar
  • Berlin Mass
  • Magnificat
