What's Open and Closed on Thanksgiving Day

A list of key offices and services affected

Grocery stores are open including the North City and Aurora  Safeways, Shoreline's Central Market, Fred Meyer , Haggen  at 175th, the Richmond Beach QFC and Albertson's. 

Some stores are open shorter hours and some are open all day. Call or check the store Web sites for more information. 

Costco is closed Thanksgiving Day and open 9 a.m. to  8:30 p.m. on Friday.

The Shoreline City Hall is closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday.

The Lake Forest Park City Hall is closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday.

The Shoreline School District is closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday.

The Shoreline Pool is closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday.

The Spartan Recreation Center is closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday.

The King County Library System, including the Shoreline, Lake Forest Park and Richmond Beach branches are closed.

The Dale Turner Family YMCA is closed Thanksgiving and reopens Friday.

King County government is closed Thanksgiving and Friday.

King County Metro: Metro Transit service will operate on a Sunday schedule. If a route does not normally run on Sunday, there is no service on Thanksgiving. Sunday fares will be in effect on Metro bus routes on Thanksgiving. The Friday after Thanksgiving buses will be on reduced weekday schedules.

All Metro offices will be closed on Thanksgiving, including the Customer Information Center phone lines. For more information about transit service, visit Metro Online atwww.kingcounty.gov/metro.

State of Washington: Closed.

Federal government (including the U.S. Postal Service): Closed. No regular mail delivery on Thanksiving, but there is regular mail delivery Friday and Saturday.

Banks: Closed.

Cleanscapes: No service on Thanksgiving Day. If your garbage and recycling is normally picked up on Thursday it will be picked up on Friday if it's normally picked up on Friday it will be picked up on Saturday. 

Allied Waste: Republic Services (also known locally as Allied Waste), will not collect garbage, recycling and yard waste from its Puget Sound-area customers including those in LFP on Thanksgiving.  Customers with a regular scheduled pick-up on Thursdays will have their waste picked up on Friday, November 23rd.  Customers with Friday service will have their waste picked up on Saturday, November 24th. Republic observes the same holidays as the King and Snohomish County transfer stations.
