Saturday's Powerball Jackpot is Worth $174 Million; What's Your Winning Strategy?

No one won Wednesday's jackpot worth $149 million as stakes get higher.

Saturday night's Powerball® jackpot is $174 million after no one won Wednesday's jackpot. Do you plan to purchase a ticket?

Tell us if you're a first-timer, religious player, or part of an office pool and share your number-picking strategy.

Check for the winning numbers on the Powerball Web site after 8 p.m.

Powerball® is a combined large jackpot game and a cash game. Every Wednesday and Saturday night at 7:59 p.m. Pacific Time, game officials draw five white balls out of a drum with 59 balls and one red ball out of a drum with 35 red balls. Draw sales cut off at least 59 minutes before the draw. Check for local cut-off time.

The current jackpot also has a cash value option of $110 million.

Players win by matching one of the 9 Ways to Win. The jackpot (won by matching all five white balls in any order and the red Powerball) is either an annuitized prize paid out over 29 years (30 payments) or a lump sum payment. Each ticket costs $2. If the winner chooses the annuity, the annual payment will be increased each year by the percentage set out in the Powerball game rules.

The second prize (won by matching five white balls in any order) is $1,000,000 paid in cash and any time you match the red Powerball, you win. The overall odds of winning a prize in the game are approximately 1 in 32.

Power Play® is a special feature that allows a winner to increase the original prize amount. Powerball players winning any prize other than the jackpot will win a larger cash prize. The Match 5+0 prize with Power Play option is now worth $2,000,000. Note that any set prizes or Power Play prizes, including the Match 5+0 prize, may be reduced if wins exceed the available prize fund. The Power Play option costs $1 and must be selected when you buy your Powerball ticket.

Both the House and the Senate must pass a bill within the same session to move on for the Governor'sRead More signature. After each Session/Special Session, all other bills are returned to the House of Origin and is technically in play, though not necessarily viable, until the next Legislature - in this case, the 64th Legislature in 2015-2016.

As an elementary student, the Pledge of Allegiance was part of the daily classroom routine. InRead More middle school, I only recited the pledge during all-school assemblies. I don't believe I was ever asked to recite it in high school. I am surprised to hear than middle school-aged students couldn't define those key words from the Pledge of Allegiance. Even if they hadn't been required to recite it in class, surely those words must have been covered on spelling tests (which, in my education, were also definition tests).
