Shoreline Historical Museum Plans Open House at New Exhibit Space, Aug. 31 - Sept. 3

The multi-day open house will launch the museum's new exhibit space and introduce the exhibit 'Linking the Community Through Time'

The has been hard at work painting and preparing its new exhibit building at 18501 Linden Ave. N, says Victoria Stiles, the museum's director.

To celebrate the completion of that work, the museum is planning a three-day open house and a new exhibit titled Linking the Community Through Time.

The open house runs next Wednesday - Saturday, Aug. 31 - Sept. 3, from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. each day.

The museum is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization that serves the Shoreline and Lake Forest Park communities, between 85th and 205th streets.

The Museum’s new location is at the intersection of 185th and Linden, one block west of where the first business Shoreline business took hold in 1911, the Rogers General Store.

Since boxing up more than 12,000 artifacts and some 8,000 photos, a team of volunteers has been working to restore the two buildings to accommodate the exhibits and bring the structures up to code.

Les Tonkin, a Seattle Architect and community member, said in an about the museum's move from its previous location in the historic Ronald School that much of the electrical and plumbing systems had to be replaced in the aging facility, and most of the work has been focused on getting the basic functions ready to go so the museum can reopen as soon as possible.
