King County Parks, Cascade Bicycle Club to Discuss Burke-Gilman Closure

Press conference set for tomorrow, Tuesday, June 14 at 11 a.m. near Sheridan Beach

The oldest segment of the Burke-Gilman Trail will close Wednesday, June 15th for up to six months to make way for improvements and safety upgrades.

King County Parks Director Kevin Brown, Cascade Bicycle Club Executive Director Chuck Ayers and King County Transit Safety Supervisor Michael Lemeshko will be in Lake Forest Park Tuesday as they discuss the trail's pending closure, safety issues and a newly approved detour route.

A press conference will take place: Tuesday, June 14, starting at 11 a.m., at N.E. 165th St. and Beach Dr. NE, at the trail intersection. It is across the street from Sheridan Beach. Street parking is available on Beach Drive, NE 165th St. or 41st Ave. NE.

The two-mile segment of the trail from Northeast 145th Street in Lake Forest Park to Logboom Park in Kenmore will be closed into November while it makes critical safety improvements through the oldest and narrowest trail section.
