Why Go: Sky’s vegetable guru Emily will be presenting the basics of vegetable gardening together with a “get your hands dirty” seminar on direct seed sowing at Sky Nursery. Emily will first discuss how to choose vegetable varieties for the Northwest and for your situation and give you pointers on planning, timing, preparing your soil, fertilizing, and watering. Then she’ll branch out to cover annual flowers as well and demonstrate how to plant different types of seeds.

When/Where: 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday at the Edmonds Marine Sanctuary.

Why Go: Help remove litter from the shoreline of Edmonds Marine Sanctuary, and explore the beach at low tide with a ranger-naturalist. Meet at the Visitor Station, Olympic Beach. Wear your gloves and boots, and bring an old bucket if you have one. Individuals of all ages and groups are welcome to participate.

When/Where: 5 p.m. Sunday, April 22, at .

Why Go: This performance by the Olympic Ballet Theater will include excerpts from Act III, where fairytale characters dance in celebration of the union of Princess Aurora and Prince Désiré. In addition to the production of the Highlights from The Sleeping Beauty, OBT will present a brand new piece to a score by Charles Griffes, in a collaborative project with locally and internationally known Seattle Chamber Players. Enjoy the show!
