  • When/Where: Fri. 8 p.m. at All Nations Community Church and Horizon View Park
  • Why Go: As part of Lake Forest Park’s 50th anniversary celebration, All Nations Community Church will host a space-themed movie followed by marshmallows and stargazing at Horizon View Park, with telescopes provided by the astronomical society (weather permitting, of course).
  • Pricing: free

Washington Beer Festival

  • When/Where: Fri. 4 p.m-9 p.m., Sat. 11 a.m.-9 p.m., Sun. 11 a.m.-6 p.m. at Saint Edward Park in Kenmore
  • Why Go: Looking for something fun to do with Dad this Father’s Day weekend? Check out the Washington Beer Commission’s largest event of the year and taste some of the more than 200 craft beers from more than 60 brewers. If Dad doesn’t dig the hops, there will also be cider, wine, a root beer garden, food, live music and a playground for the kids. The festival is 21+ on Friday, but it’s open to all ages Saturday and Sunday.
  • Pricing: Friday $15, Sat-Sun $25 (minors get in free with an adult)

  • When/Where:  Sat., 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at
  • Why Go: Summer is about hit the Northwest (finally), which means gardening season will soon be in full swing. This weekend, take a tour of Kruckeberg Botanic Garden and learn the ins and outs of garden insects and how to spot the effects of bugs on plants. Did you know that there are some bugs that are actually good for plants? According to Kruckeberg, there are. Whether you have an experienced green thumb, or you’re new to gardening, this tour could help you make the most of your plants this season.
  • Pricing: $10

  • When/Where: Sat. 9 a.m-4  p.m. at Lake Forest Park Town Centre and various gardens throughout town
  • Why Go: This event is a great way to get out of the house (or the office) and check out live music and local art at five of Lake Forest Park’s beautiful gardens. If you have questions about how to improve your own gardens, master gardeners will be available for guidance. This could be a great way to spend an afternoon if the sun decides to come out. There will also be a plant sale at Lake Forest Park Towne Centre.
  • Pricing: $12 advance, $15 on the day of the event

  • When/Where: Sat. noon-3 p.m. at Horizon View Park, Sun 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at 
  • Why Go: Celebrate 50 years of Lake Forest Park being Lake Forest Park with (free!) ice cream and coffee, games for the kids, a rocket-launching demonstration and U.S. Army equipment at Horizon View Park Saturday. On Sunday, The Rotary Club will host a pancake brunch at City Hall at 11 a.m., followed by face painting and music by the Milner Family Fiddlers, Caspar Babypants at 12:30 p.m. at the Third Place Commons (also known as Chris Ballew of the Presidents of the United States fame), and the Smalltime Stringband. There will also be birthday cake at 1:30 p.m.
