  • Where/When: 7:30-9:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at Third Place Commons.
  • Why Go: If live free music is what you're after, the Third Place Commons stage is good place to get it. On Friday, the Microsoft Jazz Band hits the stage with their unique big band sound. Then, on Saturday it's Sophisticated Swing's turn to get you dancing. Can't decide which band to see? These clips of the Microsoft Jazz Band and the Sophisticated Swing band in action should help you decide.
  • Cost: Free.

  • Where/When: Fri, Aug 5 at the playfield in Edmonds. Movie starts at dusk.
  • Why Go: Head over to the Frances Anderson Center this Friday night for an evening of fun under the stars. Ghostbusters will be showing on the jumbo inflatable screen. All you need to do is grab some friends, blankets, lawn chairs and the bug spray! Haven't seen Ghostbusters? You're in for a treat, check out the film's trailer so you know what you're in for.
  • Cost: Free.

 

Mad Homes

  • Where/When: 12-7 p.m. daily through Sun Aug 7 in Capitol Hill (711 Bellevue Avenue E. Seattle, WA 98102)
  • Why Go: Looking for an "out there" art experience this weekend? The Mad Homes exhibit going on in the Summit neighborhood of Capitol Hill might be just what you're looking for. The exhibit consists of five neighboring houses that have been turned into blank canvasses for local artists to do with as they please. Each house is equipped with the most unique and modern art installations you could imagine. Check out this video from King5.com to get a better idea of what you'll see.
  • Cost: Free.

 

  • Where/When: 12 p.m. Sat, Aug 6 at Paine Field in Everett.
  • Why Go: Looking for an alternative to the Blue Angels this weekend? You may want to check out the Flying Heritage Collection's annual Luftwaffe Day going on this Saturday at Paine Field. The day will be highlighted by the debut flight of the recently acquired German Focke-Wulf Fw 190 A-5 aircraft. This Fw 190 A-5 is the only one of its kind in the world that has been restored to its original flying condition. The public debut flight of the aircraft was originally scheduled for earlier this June, but was unable to take to the skies due to inclement weather. Weather shouldn't be a problem this time around though, so enjoy the show.
  • Cost: Free.

 

 

  • Where/When: 9-11 a.m. Sat, Aug 6 at .
  • Why Go: Do your part to help bring the community together, spread awareness and put money towards a good cause at this Walk-4-Polio event sponsored by the Rotary Club of Lake Forest Park. You'll even get a little exercise out the the deal!
  • Cost: Free. Money raised trough this event will help eradicate polio in Afghanistan, Nigeria, India, and Pakistan.
