Fatal Crash Blocks Interstate 5 in Shoreline

A fatal rollover accident blocked Interstate 5 northbound just south of SR 104 (MP 177) for two hours, according to state officials. One man died.

One man is dead after a fatal rollover collision, which occurred around 5:25 p.m. on Interstate 5 under the Northeast 185th Street overpass, the Washington State Patrol reported. Two lanes of Interstate 5 were blocked as the Washington State Patrol investigated and crews cleared the scene.

The Washington State Department of Transportation reported that the accident cleared at 7:30 p.m., two hours after the accident was reported. Patch will update the story when more information is available.

Update: 6:17 p.m.

The two right lanes of northbound Interstate 5 are blocked just south of SR 104 (MP 177), and are expected to be blocked for some time, according to Washington State Patrol spokeswoman Trooper Julie Judson.

The vehicle that rolled over is stuck on a guardrail, and it may take some time for crews to clear the vehicle, she said.

There were no other vehicles or people involved in the crash, Judson said. Further information on the man and the type of vehicle involved was not immediately available.
