5 Things You Need to Know Today: December 18 and 19

What to do on a wet weekend

1. We are in for more cold and rain this weekend. Hopefully you got out and took advantage of that unseasonably warm day we had on Friday. Fortunately for the fair-weather deprived, all is not for naught here in Shoreline and Lake Forest Park.

We don't expect Mother Nature to give us much to work with this time of year, so we find our fun indoors. Today we take a look at the indoor activities at your disposal this weekend as the wet season makes its return.

2. 'Tis the season to watch movies. December 25 is the big day for winter movie debuts, but this weekend has a few big openings.

For showtimes on these new movies, check out Regal Cinemas in Northgate or AMC Theatres on Aurora Avenue.

3. If you are on a budget but still want to watch a movie, Landmark Crest Cinema Center in Shoreline offers showings for $3. Landmark Crest shows a number of independent films and movies that are about to leave the cinema rotation. So if you missed a movie at the other theaters, you might want to check out Crest Cinema. 4. Basketball season heats up as the Shoreline Community College Men's and Women's teams compete in the NWAACC Crossover Tournament.

The Shorecrest High School  will also play the Kamiak Knights Saturday at Shoreline High School.

5. Just because it's December doesn't mean you can't get fresh local produce! The farmers market continues at Third Place Commons in Lake Forest Park Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. In addition to food and treats, the farmers market will feature live music and a craft fair. Shoreline-Lake Forest Park Patch editor Tony Dondero will be on hand as well to meet the public, sign people up for the site and hand out Patch swag. Stop by and say hi.
