SCC Baseball Splits Doubleheader With Douglas College:
The Shoreline Community College Baseball Team traveled to British Columbia on Monday to make up a NWAACC Northern Region doubleheader that was rained out on Saturday and came back with a split, dropping the first game 3-2 and wining the 2nd 5-1.
In Game 1, SCC pitcher Henry McAree (3-1) pitched well, just giving up three hits and striking out 6, but Douglas made their hits and the four walks they earned count, as they beat SCC 3-2. SCC rallied in the top of 7th, down 3-0 to make it 3-2, but the rally fell short in the 7 inning game. Connor King was 2 for 2 batting and Kainoa Ahsing-Kaahanui had the 2 SCC RBIs.
In Game 2, Layton Bush (3-4) pitched a 2 hitter over 9 innings as SCC won the game 5-1. The run that Bush gave up was unearned. Luke Merkel was 3 for 3 with a double. stole 3 bases and scored 2 runs in the game. Kainoa Ahsing-Kaahanui was 2 for 2 batting with a RBI and Mitch Hoveke hit a 2 RBI double.
SCC moved its record to 16-14-1 overall and 4-6 in the NWAACC Northern Region. Douglas is now 10-10 overall and 7-5 in the region.
SCC plays rival Edmonds Community College on Saturday and Sunday next weekend in a four game NWAACC Northern Region Series. EDCC is in 2nd place in the region, with a 20-12 overall record and 11-5 in the region. The doubleheader starts at 1:00pm on Saturday at Edmonds and 3:00pm at Meridian Park on Sunday.
