Will You Miss It? No More Music at Third Place Books

Third Place Books says a new property manager will be in charge of the Commons, including live music programming.

Editor's note: The partners at Third Place Books shared the following information with Patch:

Dear Third Place Music Fans,

Since we opened Third Place Books and Third Place Commons in November 1998, we have booked and paid for music every Friday and Saturday night, which has been free to the public and brought in many customers who shopped at our store and dined at the restaurants in the Commons.

Beginning on May 1, 2013, Third Place Books has entered into a new lease with Madison Marquette.  In this new lease, Third Place Books is no longer in charge of the Commons. Madison Marquette, who will control the Commons moving forward, has indicated that beginning in June they do not plan to continue the Friday and Saturday night music program.

This does not mean that a music program will never come back to the Commons stage. This is a transition period. The non-profit group, Friends of Third Place Commons, is still as active as ever in the Commons and might be able to work with Madison Marquette to find some kind of program to bring back to the Commons stage in the future.

Thank you all for all of your years of support, we look forward to continuing to see you in the bookstore and the Commons.

If you have any questions please email us at comments@thirdplacebooks.com.
