Menchie's Frozen Yogurt Franchise Aims for Late December Opening in Shoreline

Shoreline's Gateway Plaza at Aurora Ave. N. and 185th St. is the site of Amy and Tony Scherrer's first foray into a Menchie's frozen yogurt franchise

Amy and Tony Scherrer of Seattle are opening a Menchie's self-serve frozen yogurt franchise in Shoreline's Gateway Plaza, on the corner of Aurora Ave. N. and 185th St., aiming for a late December start date.

"This is our first Menchie's franchise," Amy Scherrer said. "We chose this location in Shoreline as it is very central to a large number of schools,  YMCA, Highland Ice Arena and many other neighborhoods who we hope to partner with to make a difference in the Shoreline community, not only by providing a fun, friendly atmosphere to recharge and connect with loved ones and friends, but we also hope to help fundraise and partner with schools, churches and organizations to help reach some of their goals.

"We will be hiring approximately 13-20 people who would be a good fit in helping us fulfill Menchie's mission, which is to make each guest smile, through providing an excellent experience, destination and product.  Menchie's does have opportunities that can allow for the possibility of turning an entry-level job into a career, and even the possibility to transition to Menchie's headquarters based in California."

The Gateway Plaza space is approximately 1,950 square feet, and is located on the South end of Gateway Plaza with entrance doors on the north facing side.

"We live in Seattle, and have had a commitment and investment in Shoreline and its community for the past 8 years," Amy Scherrer said. " We have our three kids attending King's Schools, in grades fourth, eighth, and 11th.  My husband spent 13 years of his life in this community during his school years as well, so in-all we have been active in the Shoreline community for over 20 years."

"We are excited to be offering Menchie's and its products and services to the Shoreline community," she said. "Look for our Grand Opening and the special offers that will be involved around the turn of the year."
