Hosn Family Opens Popular Curbside Kebabs at 145th and Aurora

Have hankering for Mediterranean food?

About two months ago, Curbside Kebabs started serving up mouth-watering kebabs, shwarma and gyros at the corner of 145th St. and Aurora Ave. North out of trailer.

The food trailer is owned by Jay and Nicole Hosn of Richmond Beach, who also run Goodies Mediterranean Market in Lake City. Jay Hosn is originally from Lebanon.

Their four sons Julian, Kai, Alex and Riyen help run Curbside Kebabs, and the plan is to stay open year-round.

The signature dishes include chicken, beef and kufta kebabs, served as a sandwich or plate with hummous, salad and pita. A lamb and beef gyro and chicken or beef shwarma are also popular. For vegetarians, there is falafel, mediterrean salad and a vegetarian platter. Prices range from $5.49 to $9.99.

"It's always busy," said Kai Hosn, on a recent sunny Sunday afternoon as people crowded around the trailer.

Food trucks are becoming more and more popular in Seattle following a European trend, and the Hosns hope to expand to other locations.

They have an 11-year lease at the current site in Shoreline, Kai Hosn said, so they plan to be there for awhile. The site previously housed Golden Nugget Casino, which was torn down, and prior to that a gas station.

Seating includes several tables on the Aurora side and a covered tent in the back with picnic benches.

The business is also "always hiring," Kai Hosn said.
