Bites Nearby - Taqueria El Sabor

From tacos to infinity and beyond

Southwest expats "get" the taqueria scene. Authentic, homestyle dishes....and lots of it. The key to a good taqueria being that it brings a taste of home to the table.

Beef, chicken, fish and pork from two bite tacos to platos grande Shoreline's El Sabor is just one of those spots...a crowd pleaser, with something for everyone.

Tacos come in single to six-up orders. Tasty tacos ($1.09 for 1; $4.69 for 3; $7.89 for 6) feature the sweet crispy slow roasted Carnitas pork, shredded and ground beef and spiced chicken.

Better still is the warm Cocktail ($9.99), a tomato-based broth swimming with bite-sized shrimp spiked with onions and studded with cilantro and cucumber.

Feel like more shrimp? The Camarones Chipotle, Camarones a la Diabla and the Arroz con Camerones ($8.99 all) are all good bets. The Tostada de Camaron ($4.99) offers a shrimp fest for a lighter appetite.

If you can stand a fish head on your plate the Mojarra ($8.99) is a whole fried Talapia served with vegetables, fries and salad or rice and beans. What a meal deal!

The classic hangover cure Menudo ($7.99) is available weekends.

This is a family-friendly spot, with plenty of bench-style seating and a kids menu that has a wee quesadilla, a smaller-sized burrito or the classic kid's burger or chicken nuggets ($3.99). Those items bundle a soda pop, milk shake or and ice cream treat.

Located in a former South of the Border-flavor spot, El Sabor welcomes all the neighbors with the common denominator of classically good homestyle Mexican food with great prices.
