Police: Drunk Driver Crashed Into Police Cruiser in Shoreline

The police officer and driver both suffered injuries in the Saturday night crash at North 175th St. near Interstate 5.

Update, Sunday, June 2, 2 p.m.:  A woman involved involved in a head-on collision with a Shoreline Police cruiser near the Interstate 5 175th St. off ramp has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to the King County Sheriff's Office.

KCSO spokesperson Sgt. Cindi West said the Shoreline Police officer was eastbound on North 175th Street when witnesses said they saw a black sedan run a red light driving southbound on the I-5 off ramp and driving in front of the patrol car, causing the collision.

Both were transported to Harborview with non life threatening inquiries. 

The female driver of the black sedan was arrested for DUI.

A Shoreline police officer and a suspected drunk driver are in the hospital after a wreck Saturday night near the 175th Street offramp in Shoreline, according to KOMONews.com.

Investigators say that driver came speeding off I-5 at 175th street when she crashed into the officer's police cruiser, according to Sgt. Cindi West of the King County Sheriff's Office.

KOMONews.com reported that the officer has a broken knee and may have suffered a concussion, and both were transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment. The condition of the motorist is not known at this time.
