Viewfinder: ShoreDog, DogFest 2011

Yesterday, man and woman's best friends ate, played and competed with each other in the off leash area of Shoreview Park in Shoreline.

It was ideal weather (not too hot or cold) for our four legged friends at this year’s hosted by ShoreDog. From Shiba Inus to Chihuahuas, there were dozens of breeds and their owners who attended yesterday.

The dogs had a variety of activities with their respective humans.  Some pups participated in Owner/Pet Look-a-Like and Best Shedder Contests.  Other canine friends loved the Flyball competitions that involved a relay race, Olympic style mini-hurdles and flying tennis balls.  Please see videos of the Flyball races.

Mary Barnes, a coordinator for ShoreDog and a volunteer steward for the park, was quite happy with the event.  Barnes said, “The pie eating contest was the best!  The pies were made of beef and made by Dining Dog Café.”

Some humans indulged in free hot dogs and water, while other humans participated in the pet expo.  Over a dozen organizations happily displayed their doggie goods and services:

Paws, Zany Doodles, Smiley Dog, Motley Zoo Rescue, Furizzy, Spawz Dog, Motion Bound Hound, Dr. Elise Thomas Holt, Mud Bay, Bow Wow Fun Towne, Pupcakes, Puppy Dreams and Peanut Pals were some of companies that took part in DogFest 2011.
