Total Experience Gospel Choir Performs at Third Place Books

Pat Wright and the Total Experience Gospel Choir performed for a crowd at Third Place Books, in celebration of Black History Month.

On Saturday afternoon, the Total Experience Gospel Choir, headed by Pastor Pat Wright, performed for a packed crowd, in the commons of Third Place Books.

The performance, which was originally scheduled for Martin Luther King's Day but cancelled due to inclement weather conditions, was in honor of Black History Month.

The internationally acclaimed, Seattle-based choir wowed the Third Place Books’ crowd with traditional gospel hymns, like “His Eye Is on the Sparrow”, led by Seattle native Camila Recchio.

Recchio is an up and coming vocalist, well known in the Seattle music scene.

Among the former members of the choir are three American Idol contestants, including the sixth season finalist and Shorecrest alumni, Sanjay Malakar.

Wright, who founded the choir in 1973, has garnered numerous awards for her contribution to music and the community, in Seattle.

Her awards include the Washington State Governors Ethnic Heritage Award, for helping to preserve Black Gospel music in the State of Washington.

She was also selected as one of the "50 Most Influential Musicians" in the Pacific Northwest over the past 100 years in the Seattle Metropolitan Magazine, in 2008.

The choir has toured throughout the United States and in 28 countries, collaborating with musical greats like Quincy Jones, Ray Charles and Steely Dan.
