VIDEO: Neighbors Gather For Richmond Beach Celebration

Hundreds of neighbors and friends attended Richmond Beach's annual celebration

Hundreds of people stopped by Richmond Beach Community Park Saturday to eat, listen to music and mingle at the Richmond Beach Strawberry Festival, part of the neighborhoods largest celebration of the year.

This year's celebration was aided in part by excellent weather, something organizer Sheri Ashleman said the festival has struggled to find in years past.

Among the attendees were members of emergency response organizations for area youth, including the Police Explorers from the King County Sheriff's Office and the Fire Safety Program through the Shoreline Fire Department who gave demonstrations to kids on topics such as how to perform CPR and what to do during emergency situations.

Five bands hit the stage, one for each hour of the celebration, including the Portage Bay Big Band, a local swing group that performed big-band jazz classics such as Sing, Sing, Sing by Louis Prima, a song that was made popular by Benny Goodman.
