Tips, Tricks and Secrets to Saving Your Family Money

We are fortunate to live in a city rich with art and culture but these experiences rarely come cheap. As a mom wanting to take advantage of these opportunities, I started researching how to accomplish this goal without breaking the bank. Like always, I found that these bargains are often about timing and bulk discounts (buy one get one free).  Below, I’ve shared some great opportunities for you to take advantage of.

  • Seattle Asian Art Museum - Free First Saturdays of every month 11 am–2 pm has a theme and features drop-in workshops, special performances and more! Designed for kids ages 312 and their parents/ guardians. Check it out at: http://www.seattleartmuseum.org/learn/youthfamily/saam.asp
  • Seattle Art Museum Downtown- Kids 12 and under get in free with an adult. On the second Saturday of select months, 10am–noon, kids can create works of art, enjoy special performances, take kid-inspired tours of the galleries and more.   • The Olympic Sculpture Park - On the third Saturday of select months from 10am–noon at the PACCAR Pavilion, kids can create works of art, check out sculptures and take home some SAM goodies.   • The Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture - On the first Thursday of each month, the museum stays open until 8 pm and admission is free. Currently the museum is running a fun exhibit on Carnival in Brazil. http://www.burkemuseum.org
  • The Museum of History and Industry - Free admission and free gallery tours at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. on the first Thursdays of the month. MOHAI collects, preserves and presents the rich history of the Pacific Northwest.  Visit them on the web at: http://seattlehistory.org
