Evans, McKagan Headline Big Week at Third Place

Linda Evans, Duff McKagan, David Guterson, and Henry Rollins will all grace the Third Place stage this week.

An actress, a bassist, and a spoken word artist are among those scheduled for what's shaping up to be a big week at Third Place Books.

The week of headliners kicks off this Monday, with former Dynasty star Linda Evans. Evans, who rose to fame in the 1960s as Audra Barkley in the TV western, The Big Valley, will be promoting her new memoir, "Recipes for Life: My Memories." In the book, Evans combines anecdotes, photographs, and recipes she's collected throughout the years. Evans' presentation is free, but a ticket is required for the book signing line.

Novelist David Guterson graces the Third Place stage on Wednesday night. The Bainbridge Island resident, best known for his 1994 novel, Snow Falling on Cedars (which garnered a movie adaption in 1999), will discuss and read from his new book, "Ed King." The book, a stark takeoff from his other novels, places the classic tale of Oedipus Rex in the modern day Pacific Northwest.

Thursday night brings former Guns N' Roses bassist Duff McKagan to Third Place, for a signing of his memoir, "It's So Easy, And Other Lies." The Seattle native's new book covers everything from his rise to fame, to his transformation after struggles with drugs and alcohol. As with the Evans appearance, a signing line ticket is required.

The big week wraps up on Friday, with singer, songwriter, and spoken word artist Henry Rollins. The former Black Flag vocalist's new book, Occupants, compiled photos taken by Rollins between 2003 and 2010, and coupled them with Rollins' musings on the images.

"It's all up to chance," said Wendy Manning, the events coordinator for Third Place, when asked about the confluence of four headliners in five days. "Each publisher works independently when touring authors; it just all happened to line up to shape a pretty fantastic week!"

The Evans and Guterson appearances begin at 7 P.M. while the McKagan and Rollins events start at 6:30. Tickets for the Evans and McKagan signings are free, with the purchase of their respective books at Third Place. For more information, visit www.thirdplacebooks.com
