Both Wei and Arreguin are well known Seattle artists.  Wei’s art is on display in Ambassador Gary Locke’s office in Washington D.C., and in the Republic of Gabon in the U.S. Embassy in Libreville as part of the federal Art in Embassies program.  Arreguin’s work can be found in the Smithsonian Museum of Art, National Museum of American Art and National Portrait Gallery.

The artists add color to the Seattle community through teaching art and exhibiting locally.  In total, more than 15 paintings are included in the Aljoya show, including Wei’s Palouse Shadow, 36” x 27” pigment on paper and Arreguin’s Colibris, 40” x 30” oil on canvas.

Aljoya Thornton Place Art Curator, June Sekiguchi says the spring of 2011 with its grey skies and chilly temperatures inspired planning for this show.

“The art of Z.Z. Wei and Alfredo Arreguin is bright, with visual narratives that draw the viewer into stunning beauty,” says Sekiguchi.  “The rich color in this exhibition is something we all long to see this time of year.”

Aljoya Thornton Place is the newest addition to Era Living, a private, Seattle-based company of eight premier retirement communities. Aljoya offers the perfect blend of village charm and urban lifestyle set in one of the most desirable continuing care retirement communities anywhere.
