Shorecrest, Shorewood Boys Soccer Showdown Friday Night

Catch it live at Shoreline Stadium, watch student-run and produced telecast Channel 26 or record it

On Friday night at 7 p.m., the Shorecrest and Shorewood boys soccer teams renew their rivalry at Shoreline Stadium.

The last time these two teams met, they played to a 1-1 tie that wasn't decided until a shootout left the Scots as the winners.

Fans attending the game Friday will enjoy the best of both worlds.

Not only will they get to watch two of the best 3A teams in the state play --- the game will be televised live to Comcast subscribers in Shoreline and LFP on Channel 26 --- so savvy fans will be able to set their recording devices and then go home and watch the game all over again.

The game will be telecast by the Live Video Production class, which combines students from both schools, under the tutelage of Trent Mitchell (Shorecrest) and Marty Ballew (Shorewood).  These games are student-operated, as students operate the cameras and perform other tasks at the stadium, while others work out of the studio at the District office, doing the directing, audio, graphics, and production duties.

Friday night's game will be special in that both on-air announcers are also students.  Shorecrest senior Joe Veyera, who began his announcing career in the fall of 2009, will once again call the play-by-play, and he will be joined for the second time by Lisa Santroch, Shorewood senior, who called the Scots/T-Birds soccer game last season with Veyera on Channel 26, the Shoreline Educational Access channel.

For those who wish to watch the re-airs of this (and other Shoreline District games and activities), recordings can be watched at 6 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

The Ch. 26 crew finishes their broadcast season on Monday, May 2 with another league rivalry, as the Scots host defending state champion Glacier Peak at 7 p.m.
