See the Stars at Paramount Park in Shoreline

The Seattle Astronomical Society holds monthly "star parties" where anyone can take a peek through the telescope.

Want to see the stars up close? The Seattle Astronomical Society hosts a monthly “star party” at Paramount Park in Shoreline, and it’s open to the public. This month, it’s Saturday, Jan. 26, at 6 p.m.

From the SAS invitation:

Members set up their telescopes at dusk. Viewing is always free and open to anyone, since we believe that all should be able to experience the wonders of the sky. Paramount Park star parties usually occur on the Saturday closest to the first quarter moon, so we always have at least one celestial object in the evening sky to show you, weather permitting. If it's raining, or completely cloudy, don't come--otherwise, it's always worth a try! Check out the SAS website:  www.seattleastro.org/

Check the SAS website before you go--Saturday's forecast from the National Weather Service currently predicts mostly cloudy Saturday night, so it might be canceled.

All parties begin at dusk. Dates and approximate times for the rest of 2013 are:

  • Jan. 26, 6 p.m.
  • Feb. 16, 6 p.m.
  • March 16, 7 p.m.
  • April 20, 8 p.m.
  • May 18, 9 p.m.
  • June 15, 9 p.m.
  • July 13, 9 p.m.
